as always, i am late in posting these photos but i just wanted to share some snapshots from our thanksgiving dinner.
this one was one of the best ones yet as we had a ton of family come down from the states to celebrate with us.
it's been their mission for a while to experience two thanksgivings in one year, haha.

just wanted to take a moment to wish you all a very merry christmas!
christmas has always been one of my favorite holidays - the music, the food, the gifts, spending time with family...i love it all.
the first thing we did this morning was open presents.
later on in the evening, we sat down for an amazing dinner cooked by my beautiful madre.
the menu this year consisted of turkey (which was roasted in coke...what?!) stuffed with cornbread and ham, corn casserole, roasted potatoes, rice, pasta salad and italian cake for dessert.
my sister also made a traditional german mulled wine called glühwein and it was delicious.
all in all, it was another amazing christmas spent with the ones i love the most.
although missing was my cousin, sherley, who is soaking up the sun right now.
jealous.
i hope you're all having an amazing holiday season.
and to all my torontonians who are still without power - keep warm!

pps. i discovered what could very well be my new favorite christmas song.
now that i'm all done with dreaded finals, i can now focus my attention on finding the perfect gift for my loved ones.
this will be my family's second year doing the whole secret santa for the adults/gifts for the children.
we've yet to draw names, so i don't know exactly who my secret santa is just yet but to help me narrow down some gift ideas, i created a couple gift guides :)

yesterday the true north strong and free celebrated thanksgiving day!
as much as i love me some christmas, thanksgiving is hands down my favorite holiday.
it's the one holiday where the purchasing of gifts is not required - at my house anyways.
it's a time spent with family eating the most delicious food and taking a moment to be thankful for the good things in life.
(any holiday that combines family and yummy food is fine by me...)
my sister, brother-in-law and i took it upon ourselves to cook the entire feast and i'm glad to report that as of tuesday afternoon, everyone is still alive.
we didn't want to bite off more than we could chew, so we kept the menu relatively "small"... butternut squash au gratin, corn casserole, alfredo bowtie pasta with shrimp, brown rice, shepard's pie, turkey with cranberry stuffing, carrot cupcakes filled with cream cheese, vanilla cupcakes filled with vanilla pudding and pain patate aka. haitian sweet potato pudding
this kid, lol.
for our table decor we used miniature pumpkins as both flower and tealight candle holders:
