grandma's 90th birthday.

on march 30th, my beautiful grandmother  ("gunny" as she's more affectionately known) turned the big 9-0!
so, her daughters got together and threw her a wonderful surprise party.
it was so nice begin around family celebrating the woman who essentially started it all.

i didn't take my many photos as my little cousins kept me on the dance floor.
luckily my cousin, dave, came to the party with his canon camera in tow.
he managed to get some amazing shots which obviously, i stole.
surprise!

me and the photographer, himself!

i don't even know what song this is but what i do know is that my
grandma has moves for days.

grandma realizing just how much money was in those birthday cards...
her money dance is something i'll remember forever.

loose translation: "i'm rich, i'm rich, i'm rich!"

happy, happy birthday gunny!!!!
here's to another 90 years!

birthday behaviour.

on sunday, i celebrated my sdofnsd birthday.
*disclaimer: that wasn't a typo.
that's just my age.
in quasi-captcha form.
onwards.

last year, i spent my birthday in sunny malibu.
this year, i spent it in -40 celsisus (and farenheit, apparently) weather *side eye.
however, despite the arctic chill, i had a pretty amazing day.

in the morning, my wonderful dad cooked me the most delicious breakfast and my surrogates gave me their handmade birthday cards.
* nico explained to me that his were pictures of dinosaurs.

my parents gave me the most amazing card with the most touching message.
i debated including the message but decided to keep that to myself.
it was sweet though, haha.

my sister, jenn, took some time out of her busy life to draw a picture of me in celebration of my birthday.
my mom told me that i should start dressing like this drawing because she
has better style than i do.
the shade, haha.

my nephew-son also gifted me the most beautiful bouquet of flowers that truly warmed my heart.

in the evening, i went downtown with my friends to bar+karaoke.
though i've been karaoke-ing before, this was my first time doing so in a private room which i quite enjoyed.
it definitely allowed us the freedom to sing like no one was listening.
except that the walls there are paper thin.
i digress - we each took turns selecting songs out of their massive catalogue.
our selections were all over the place - a little destiny's child, followed by some backstreet boys with a little big sean.

i don't even know what song this is...

all in all, i had an amazing day with the people i love the most.
here's to another year on planet earth!

G&G turns one!!

i am what a terrible mother.
two days ago my blog celebrated it's first birthday and i didn't even notice.
shameful.

they say it's better late than never so...

happy first birthday to my little nook of the internet!

initially, i wasn't too sold on the idea of blogging but must admit, i have thoroughly enjoyed it!
it's been nice to have this blog as a creative outlet and i quite often find myself scrolling through old posts.

for all who've taken the time to read my posts and leave lovely comments, thank you :)
here's to many more years of blogging and virtual friendships!

happy (belated) birthday, chellie.

on may 22nd, my eldest sister chellie celebrated her birthday.
she decided to throw an all white backyard garden party to celebrate her special day.
it was fun catching up with old friends and there was even a henna artist in attendance.

*please excuse my torn up socklette.

"and those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane
by those who could not hear the music."

all in all, it was a great afternoon - happy birthday, chellie!
